Sharon Byford-Ruth is best known as the author of The Arabian, A Guide for Owners, a classic Arabian horse book that was recommended by breeders and trainers, found in libraries worldwide, and used as a supplemental text by educational institution. One of the bestselling books about Arabian horses of all time, it remained in print for more than a decade after its first printing in 1987.

Sharon has owned Arabian horses for several decades. For almost 50 years, her magazine articles have appeared in Arabian Horse News, Arabian Horse Journal, Arabian Horse World, Crabbet Influence, Canadian Arabian News, Arabians, Arabians West, Arabian Horse Express, Horse Lover's and The Western Horseman magazines. An article also appears in the CMK Heritage Catalogue, Volume I , and a story written by her appears in Chicken Soup for the Horse Lover’s Soul (Volume I).
For about a decade, Sharon operated Legendary Arabians with business partner Betsy Teeter. The farm is most famous for the "legendary" success of their multi-champion sport horse Arabian stallion, Aul Magic (Aulrab x Magic Alarieha). A respected researcher and authority on Arabian horses, Sharon has provided information about the breed to other writers and to documentary film makers. She has organized and managed workshops and other equine events, given talks to Arabian horse organizations, and participated in numerous horse breeding, training and management courses.
Over the years, Sharon has been active in many horse organizations. She is a member or past member of the Arabian Horse Association, Golden Empire Arabian Horse Society, Eastern Crabbet Arabian Horse Society, The Guardian Arabian Horse Club, the U.S. Dressage Federation, the U.S. Equestrian Federation, and the Arabian Horse Owners Foundation, where she previously held the position of Executive Secretary.
Her online bookstore, Book Stall (www.horsebooks.com) was founded in 1999. She has book customers and friends in many countries around the world.
