Sharon Byford is best known as the author of the respected book,
The Arabian: A Guide for Owners, which is recommended by breeders and trainers, found in libraries worldwide, and used as a supplemental text by educational institutions.In addition to owning Arabian horses for many years, Sharon has written about them for almost four decades. Her magazine articles have been featured in various magazines, including the Arabian Horse News, Arabian Horse Journal, Crabbet Influence, Canadian Arabian News, Arabians, Arabians West, Arabian Horse Express, Horse Lover's , and The Western Horseman. An article by Sharon Byford also appears in the CMK Heritage Catalogue, Volume I. With Betsy Teeter, she operates Legendary Arabians in Bakersfield, California, which stands the stallion Aul Magic (Aulrab x Magic Alarieha).
As a respected researcher and authority on Arabian horse history and
bloodlines, Sharon has provided information about the breed to other writers and
documentary film makers. She has organized and managed workshops and other equine events,
given talks to Arabian horse organizations, and participated in numerous horse breeding,
training and management courses. She was a former Executive Secretary of the
Arabian Horse Owners Foundation and is presently a member of the Arabian
Breeders Association, Eastern Crabbet Arabian Horse Society, Golden Empire
Arabian Horse Society,
and the International Arabian Horse Association. Sharon is married and lives in
